this started as a very slow basement project. we had a bare concrete corner, a drain, and a list of ideas that kept getting more expensive. the contractor suggested one self contained unit instead of framing a steam room plus a separate sauna. we chose lumi, added the proper electrical and plumbing, and finished the room around it. now my wife uses the steam shower before bed, i use the dry sauna on weekends, and our teenagers have mysteriously started volunteering to clean the basement bathroom. the rainfall head is broad, the six jets hit around the middle back, and the sauna stones give a much more traditional heat than i expected. it ended up being the one part of the renovation everybody agrees on.

The delivery appointment moved twice and one crate looked beat up, so i cant give the whole experience five stars. Everything inside was protected though. Once installed the Lumi itself is perfect, steam generator, sauna stove, lights and controls all working exactly like they should.

The 71 by 40 footprint worked in our remodel but it is a substantial piece. We taped it out on the floor first and that saved us. Once in, the rectangular shape actually feels less bulky than the corner unit we removed. The white finish and wood interior look really sharp.

sounds silly but the wooden hourglass keeps me from bringing my phone into the sauna. flip it, sit down and leave the rest alone. heat is even, steam side warms up nicely, and the handheld makes rinsing the cabin quick.
